You Are Mine: A Love Sonnet to Corpus Christi

By Anna Berlinger

My sweetest Jesus, oh Beloved One,

your bride falls down before you, weak and lame

— so many sleepless nights by pain undone.

Love, touch my soul and call me by my name!

So heavy is my head upon Your Chest.

But Pounding Heart welcomes the sweet embrace

with secrets, dripping bittersweet and blessed —

Resting enraptured eyes upon my face.

Oh gently grace my forehead with a kiss.

My Loving Healer, intimately come!

Say — smiling with a look of joyful bliss —

“My precious bride, I have prepared a home.”

Now, press me deep into your wounded side.

My Tender Bridegroom, in my heart abide!
